November 6, 2024, Mississauga, Ontario – The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced today that Noah Tegelaar of the Collingwood Blues has been named its Goaltender of the Month for October.
Tegelaar was 6-1-0-0 during October, posting a 1.00 goals-against average and a .955 save percentage. He shut out the Milton Menace twice and the Georgetown Raiders once during the month. During the season, Tegelaar is 8-2-0-1 with a 1.61 GAA and a .936 save percentage.
The 18-year-old from Georgetown joined the Blues from the Blind River Beavers of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League in exchange for a player development fee on Sept. 22.
Marcus Vandenberg of the Leamington Flyers was runner-up to Tegelaar as the Goaltender-of-the-Month. The 20-year-old from Dorchester went 5-0-1-0 during October, posting a 1.11 GAA, a .956 save percentage and one shutout.
Vandenberg leads the OJHL in both GAA (1.41) and save percentage (.942). He is 8-0-1-1 for the Flyers, the top-ranked team in the OJHL. Vandenberg played the past two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with Kitchener, Sudbury and Niagara.
