Landon Wright of the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Collingwood Blues (photo credit – Michelle Malvaso | OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the NCAA Division I University of Maine Black Bears in Orona, ME beginning with the 2026-27 season.
The native of Belleville played for the Brockville Braves U18 and Jr. A teams and the Idaho Falls Spud Kings of the USPHL Premier League last season.
“Being in Collingwood, I can say that it is a first-class organization that is run professionally with a first class management/coaching staff and an incredible fan base,” Wright said. “I’d like to thank the Blues for giving me the opportunity to call Collingwood home as I continue my hockey journey.”
The 5-foot-11, 180-pound forward has 16 points (5 goals/11 assists) in 15 games with the 13-1-0 Blues this season.
“Landon is a dynamic player and has made an immediate impact during his short time to date in Collingwood,” Collingwood General Manager Mike Tarantino told the OJHL. “When going through the recruiting process to bring him to Collingwood, he clearly demonstrated a willingness to sacrifice and work hard to achieve team and personal goals. He conducts himself in such a professional level for being such a young player.”
“We are extremely proud and excited for Landon on his decision to join Maine and look forward to his continued time and development with the Blues.”
Congratulations to Landon and best of luck in the OJHL and NCAA!
The OJHL has had more than 35 NCAA Division I scholarship commitments already this season.
