Reigning Ontario Junior Hockey League and Canadian Junior Hockey League MVP Trevor Hoskin had added another honour to his resume.
Atlantic Hockey America named the Niagara freshman its Rookie of the Month for October today. Hoskin played three years for the OJHL’s Cobourg Cougars.
Hoskin is making an immediate impact for the Purple Eagles. He has tallied nine points on three goals and six assists in seven games so far this season. His nine points are tied for second nationally among freshmen, while also ranking second in Atlantic Hockey among all skaters.
The Belleville, Ontario native has accumulated six points (1g, 5a) in three AHA conference games, helping lead Niagara to a 2-0-1 start in conference play. With two of his goals coming on the power play, Hoskin is a big part of a Niagara offense that leads the AHA with 4.00 goals per game. Hoskin, a fourth round draft pick of the Calgary Flames, enters November riding a six-game point streak.
Honorable Mention:
Jakub Krbecek, Fr., G, RIT: 5 games, 2-3-0 record, .921 save percentage, 2.98 GAA, 34.8 saves per game
Riley Fitzgerald, Fr., F, Mercyhurst: 7 games, 5 points (4g-1a)
Also honoured by Atlantic Hockey America as AHA Players of the Month for their outstanding on-ice performances in games during the month of October were Niagara senior Shane Ott (Forward), Air Force junior Chris Hedden (Defenseman) and Holy Cross senior Thomas Gale (Goaltender).
